Roads and highways lighting should comply with external lighting norms so to reduce the number of accidents at night, provide safe movement for pedestrians and convenience for drivers. In this case the sufficient luminous power for pedestrians is 2 lx while movement of transport requires 5 - 20 lx. It is important to install correct road lighting system that provides drivers with maximum visibility and is not too glare at the same time. For this purpose a special "light corridor" should be designed where the direction of street lights leads to the safe traffic of both vehicles and pedestrians.
Proper road lighting
The technology of LEDs is considered to be an effective and beneficial for the road lighting. These lights are characterized by high power, durability, and economy.
LED road lighting is calculated in the same way as any other lighting project and each installation must be selected and set for each road separately. High-power equipment is preferred to use on the main roads and highways, while lighting of 70-120W power is enough for industrial and residential areas. For example, the lightings with a capacity of 150 to 270 W and equipped with a frosted diffuser are best used for wide highways. This allocation allows to distribute light efficiently and save costs on excessive lighting.
